Privacy Policy
Last updated: 30 May 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Vinly ("we", "us") collects, uses and safeguards information when you use our VIN check and vehicle history service at vinly.eu.
1. Information we collect
- VIN you enter. The 17-character Vehicle Identification Number you submit to generate a report.
- Technical data. IP address, browser type, language preference and approximate region, used to set your locale and keep the service secure.
- Usage analytics. Anonymised, aggregated interaction data via Google Analytics.
2. How we use your information
- To decode the VIN and display vehicle specifications, recalls and safety data.
- To detect and prevent abuse, fraud and automated scraping.
- To improve the accuracy, performance and translations of the service.
3. Third-party data sources
Vehicle data is retrieved from public and licensed providers, including the U.S. NHTSA vPIC, recalls and safety-ratings databases. A VIN you enter may be sent to these providers solely to produce your report. We do not sell your personal data.
4. Cookies
We use a small number of cookies to remember your language choice and to measure traffic. You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings; the core VIN lookup will still work.
5. Data retention
VIN lookups are processed in real time and are not tied to a personal profile. Aggregated analytics may be retained to understand long-term usage trends.
6. Your rights
Depending on your jurisdiction (including the EU/EEA under GDPR), you may have the right to access, correct or erase your personal data, and to object to processing. To exercise these rights, contact us via the contact page.
